A letter from our co founder
Our Story
It began with wanting to solve a small problem my wife and I encountered while fishing from a pier. We were trying to keep our line from fraying and our rods from scratching.
It is a small thing. We know that. But the fact that the problem exists matters to us.
I am an absolute nerd when it comes to the gear I use. I will watch 20 plus hours of videos and read every review before making a purchase. When the product arrives, I test it. If a line says it is 20 lb test and abrasion resistant, I am checking the breaking strength and how well it actually resists abrasion.
If a reel lists a gear ratio, I am measuring line take up. If a rod claims it is extremely flexible, I want to see how far it truly bends. I care about those details because I love fishing. The anticipation in the quiet waiting. The thrill after every bite. The battle of wits with something unseen below the surface.
I also care because my dollar means something to me. It is earned through hard work. After taking care of my family, what is left goes toward time on the water. At best, that day brings home dinner or a great story to share. At worst, it is spent enjoying another day God has blessed me with. Either way, I do not want gear failure to be the reason it is cut short.
If my rod breaks, I want it to be because it was pushed to the limit fighting fish. Not because a scratch turned into a crack. If my line snaps, I want it to be because I was outplayed. Not because it frayed against a railing.
That is why Ravntec Outdoors was formed.
If we can build products that solve real problems and protect the gear people work hard to choose, all so they can focus on doing what they love, then we are doing what we set out to do.
That is what we believe in, and that is what we are building.
