“It began with wanting to solve a small problem that my wife and I encountered. Trying to keep our line from fraying and our rods from scratching while fishing from a pier. It’s a small thing. We know it is. But the fact that that problem exists matters to us. I am an absolute nerd when it comes to the gear I use. I will routinely watch 20+ hours of videos and actually read reviews before I ever make a decision to purchase a product. Then I test the product when I receive it. When the fishing line box says its “20 lbs.” test and “Abrasion Resistant”, I am testing the breaking strength and ability to resist abrasion. If a brand is listing a real’s gear ratios, I’m testing line take-up. If a rod claims it is “Extremely Flexible,” I’m measuring how far it can bend. I care about those details because I love fishing. The anticipation of the silent waiting. The thrill and mystery after every bite. The battle of wits between me and an unknown creature below the water.
I also care because my dollar means something to me. I earned that extra dollar doing a difficult job. So after I take care of my family, I can go spend that extra dollar on a great day of fishing. A great day that “at best” brings home a delicious dinner or a great story to share with those I love. Or, “at worst” it is spent enjoying another day God has blessed me with. I don’t want to waste that extra dollar by not taking care of my gear that I put so much time and effort into choosing. If my rod unfortunately breaks, I want it to be because it was doubled over one too many times from catching fish. Not because a weak point formed from a deep scratch causing a crack. If my line breaks, I want it to be because I was just out-played by a fish. Not because my line frayed from leaning it on some railing.
And that is why Ravntec Outdoors was formed. If we can make gear that solves a few problems for people or protects the gear they have chosen - All to help them do what they love. Yeah… We are going to try to make that happen.”

Self Funded and 3-D Printed
We are a fully owned and fully self funded small business with a profit driven expansion model. Simply, that means we don't accept equity investors or take out business loans. We have to be very careful with the funds available and pay for items only if we have the cash to cover the expense. Like many in this modern world, debt is something that has snuck up on us in the past. This was especially true during difficult times. So, after a few years of praying, grinding away in our daily jobs, and giving up a lot, we were able to officially be debt free. The memory of that struggle God led us through will always be present in any financial decision we make going forward. That is why it is our decision now to stay debt free. Not because it is easy. It is not easy in the slightest. But, because we believe in living a free life. That wasn't something we were taught by anyone in school. It is something we learned when God showed us what true freedom looks like in declaring Jesus is Lord. And that is where we choose to remain standing.
3-D printing fits in by providing a means to produce a product without yet paying for the expensive injection molding process. We knew early on that paying out of pocket for injection molding tooling wasn't an option while starting our business. The average initial cost in our area is approximately $20,000. That is IF the first mold design is the final design. Haha, which is unlikely. Plus you will have to pay upfront for all the material used to make the parts and the use of the machinery to produce the parts. Long-term, injection molding is a fantastic option to efficiently produce large volumes of high quality products. That is our goal long-term. Until we have the funds available to achieve this, 3-D printing allows us to produce a high quality product just at a much slower rate and with a decent amount of personal labor required on our part. Normally 3-D printing does have issues with possible delamination of layer lines which can cause long term use issues. Thankfully we were able to locate a specific filament, that combined with a very specific printing code, produces a product that is exceptionally tough and very resistant to both UV and salt water exposure. We produce a product that we are confident can perform well under very extreme conditions found in hot aquatic environments.
