Most new fishermen pick up a bit of wisdom when watching experienced fishermen re-tie their setup even if the smallest damage to the fishing line occurs. A fishing line is like a chain. It's only as strong as the weakest link. A small abrasion or dent can be the deciding factor to landing the catch of a lifetime versus lying awake that night with a “could have - should have” story. We’ve been there before. Having your line get roughly dragged against a rough concrete or splintery wooden rail produces abrasions and dents in the fishing line which are the key failure points.

When we lean our rod against something like railing, it creates a pinch point on the line. FrayGuard eliminates pinch points by lifting your rod away from the railing.

The line’s pinch point and abrasion/friction from rubbing against railing causes a reduction in sensitivity. FrayGuard is meant to stay on the rod and work in conjunction with both active casting using lures and stationary fishing using bait. FrayGuard does not interfere with casting. Rods are leaned against many objects during the process of setting up, tying, and fishing. FrayGuard is meant to be used along the entire process of during fishing.
