Overview

Fixes the issues of not having a rod holder when pier, bridge, or dock fishing. When you lean a fishing pole on railing, FrayGuard:

  • FrayGuard supports the rod and allows the line to be lifted off of the abrasive surface that the rod is leaned against.

Most new fishermen pick up a bit of wisdom when watching experienced fishermen re-tie their setup even if the smallest damage to the fishing line occurs. A fishing line is like a chain. It's only as strong as the weakest link. A small abrasion or dent can be the deciding factor to landing the catch of a lifetime versus lying awake that night with a “could have - should have” story. We’ve been there before. Having your line get roughly dragged against a rough concrete or splintery wooden rail produces abrasions and dents in the fishing line which are the key failure points.

  • When we lean our rod against something like railing, it creates a pinch point on the line. FrayGuard eliminates pinch points by lifting your rod away from the railing.

The line’s pinch point and abrasion/friction from rubbing against railing causes a reduction in sensitivity. It is already difficult enough to tell if rod movement is a bite, a nibble, or just the wind and waves. Combine that with multiple rods being used it can divide your attention. We don’t need to be fighting against ourselves too.

  • FrayGuard’s design of extended legs, bump pad, and bumpers reduces wear and tear of your fishing pole.

We spend enough on our fishing gear to just go and slide them against concrete and sunbaked splintering wood. And we know we always try to lean our eyelet/guide on the railing just to have it slide off with the slightest breeze and damage the eyelet/guide. Let FrayGuard support the rod and take the damage to keep your gear working longer and saving you money.

  • FrayGuard is meant to stay on the rod and work in conjunction with both active casting using lures and stationary fishing using bait. FrayGuard does not interfere with casting. Rods are leaned against many objects during the process of setting up, tying, and fishing. FrayGuard is meant to be used along the entire process of during fishing.

  • FrayGuard stabilizes rods up to medium-heavy weights. This helps keep the rod positioned for the best bite sensitivity possible and allows the fisherman to not worry about precise placement of the rod leaning on a surface. Just lean it between the bumpers and it’s good to go.
